Next Workshop for Members with Activity Group Meetings, General Assembly and
COSUF Award Ceremony in October 2016
Helsinki (FI)/Lausanne (CH), 30 June 2016.- ITA COSUF
Meetings are well-known for its high-professional information and the chance of
networking with Tunnel Safety Specialists from all over the world. The latest
successful meeting was the Tunnel Safety Officers Forum held in March 2016 in
Rotterdam (NL). And the next event is coming soon: The private Workshop from
25th to 26th October 2016 in Helsinki (Finland) with Activity Group Meetings,
General Assembly and the Ceremony of the ITA COSUF Award Winner 2016. As this
workshop is for members only, it is recommended to join ITA COSUF.
Finnish Transport Agency hosts Workshop in
Helsinki
"We are
very proud to organize our next event in partnership with the Finnish Transport
Agency from 25th to 26th October 2016 in Helsinki", Dr. Roland Leucker,
chairman of ITA COSUF, announces the next Private Workshop for members only.
"Operating Road and Rail Tunnels in Helsinki" will be the topic of
the newest two day event of the Committee on Operational Safety of Underground
Facilities (COSUF), the first of four Committees of the International
Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA) and the biggest network of
Tunnelling Specialists worldwide. "We look forward to interesting events
and expect discussions on Tunnel Safety in the Activity Groups, find next decisions
in a Steering Board Meeting, listen to the latest developments of Tunnelling
Safety in the Workshop, join the ITA COSUF Award Ceremony with presentation of
the awarded work on Tunnel Safety and last but not least take the opportunity
to visit the new Helsinki Metro Line (Fig. 1)."
Steering Board and Activity Group Meetings on
25th October 2016
The first day
in Helsinki, Tuesday 25th October 2016, will be filled with the Steering Board
meeting and the meetings of the four Activity Groups. Every Member of ITA COSUF
is welcome to join one of the Activity Groups to bring in its experience and
knowledge. The topics of the Activity Groups are Interaction with European and
International Activities (AG 1), Regulations and Best Practice (AG 2), Research
and New Findings (AG 3) and last but not least Road Tunnel Safety Officers (AG
4).
General Assembly with COSUF Award, Workshop
and Site Visit on 26th October 2016
The second
day, Wednesday 26th October 2016, will start early with the General Assembly
and its highlight, the handover of the prestigious ITA COSUF Award to the
Winner 2016. After the Ceremony, the winner has the opportunity to present the
work that was awarded. Following this special moment, the technical
presentations start and the Finnish Road Administration will give an overview
over its role and some underground facilities as well as large projects, the
ongoing underground construction works in Helsinki and the Traffic Control
Center. Finally, the Länsimetro will be introduced with its 13 new metro
stations and 21 km of new tunnels under construction. After all that
information, the participants will have the chance to visit the Traffic Control
Center and the new Helsinki Metro Line with one or two stations.
Centre of Excellence
ITA COSUF is
the first committee of the ITA, the International Tunnelling and Underground
Space Association, founded in 2005. It is the Centre of Excellence consisting
of approx. 80 corporate member organisations and companies from 25 countries
all over the world. The World Road Association PIARC is also supporting ITA
COSUF. Since the very first beginning COSUF is a platform for communication on
operational safety and security in underground facilities. Only the best
specialists in the field of tunnelling are discussing in four different
activity groups about the latest developments.

Joining ITA
COSUF is very easy. It´s not needed to be an ITA member and for this reason
COSUF welcomes corporate and individual members. The youngest member of ITA
